World's Best Tarte Tatin

Tart_tartine_2
I would go back to Port Douglas just for this Tarte Tatin.  After three days of non stop rain we needed sugar badly. Under the cover of big umbrellas  we headed to Harrison's on Macrossan street for a mid afternoon sugar rush.

This really is the best tarte tatin I have ever eaten. Not too sweet, perfectly crisp edges and a slight burn to the caramel decoration.  Served at the perfect temperature so the ice cream lasted all the way to the end of the tart.

I loved the simplicity of the decor and the individual little touches.

That's some claim "the world's best"
hehe

sounds great!

I'm telling you this was seriously the best ever!

thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. I like your blog, very smooth design.

Thanks again.

Barbara you know how to get the juices flowing~ wish it could jump off the page!

Ah, but you haven't tried the tarte tatin at the Cafe du Soleil in Geneva, Switzerland.

Imagine... you have just filled up on delicious home made pasta, and sit back in your chair feeling replete and content with the world. Then they carry the tarte tatin around... the scent of the apples and caramelised sugar flows before it and when you see it in its full glory you just HAVE to have a slice. The balance of how much apple to how much sugar is perfect, and it is served with the most glorious creamy cinnamon icecream. Irresistable no matter how full you are. Not as graceful a presentation as your photo I concede, but the taste is unmatched!

you gem of a woman..that first photo is truly and really what my taste buds spirit required this moment...I once came across a photo of the kitchen of the Hotel Tatin...can remember blue and white tiles..

Is this tarte tatin better than the french one ?

Chrisb - I still can still taste it.
Kiriel - that sounds delicious.
Joan - I must google Hotel Tatin.
Melanie - it was made by a Frenchman so I guess it was french.
