When I hear coffee cake I think of the coffee flavoured cake popular in Australia during the fifties. When a friend recently reminisced about the coffee cake he enjoyed back then I decided I'd make one for his upcoming birthday this month.
A tweet on Twitter requesting help for a recipe brought back several cakes. It appears a coffeecake can be a cake or sweet bread served with coffee. @melkettle sent me her mothers Armenian Coffee Cake recipe. It contains nutmeg and walnuts and we like it. :)
