My two grandfathers were as different as chalk and cheese. My maternal grandfather built houses and went fishing on his days off. My paternal grandfather was a farmer, who after he retired, grew grapes and melons in his back yard and watched cricket on television.
I guess that is where my love of cricket began. On summer holidays I spent a couple of weeks with my grandparents who by then lived in the city. My Grandmother napped in the afternoon and I had my Grandfather all to myself while we watched the cricket on his black and white television.
Here in Australia there is no guilt felt in staying inside at the height of summer. So yesterday I stocked up on food and drink and if you are looking for me, I'm on the couch watching the cricket.
